As the US reaches a milestone of over 125 million(!) first COVID vaccinations, we’re all looking forward to more time with family and friends (and we’re not talking on Zoom). Your timeshare rental may be the perfect match for families seeking sunny vibes, space, and wallet-friendliness. Here’s what you need to know:
When Are Travelers Booking?
With vaccine distributions steadily rolling out, the majority of our recent bookings have been for summer and fall.
Listings that capture the optimal travel times for their location – paired with savvy prices and flexible cancellation policies – are likely to catch the eye of travelers considering a holiday later this year. Before locking in your dates, be sure to check out our COVID tracker and resources for the most up-to-date health and travel information.
Where Are Travelers Booking?
As for the most sought-after resorts, a couple things are clear: nature, nature, nature (and family-focused activities).
In addition to perennial travel favorite Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek, Grand Islander by Hilton Grand Vacations, Club Wyndham Margaritaville St. Thomas, and Club Wyndham Glacier Canyon are this month’s most-booked resorts. The first two boast palms and tropical treks, the third pines and hiking trails. All offer family-friendly water activities galore, by way of pristine shorelines, while Glacier Canyon’s water park is primed for summer relaxation.
At the beginning of April, Mike Kennedy, our Cofounder and CEO, published a piece on how the timeshare industry is booming in urban destinations. A recent surge in bookings at Club Wyndham Nashville and Club Wyndham Kingsgate are proof that travelers love not having to choose between a cramped hotel room and someone else’s home. Both resorts are located within minutes of local museums, parks, and botanical gardens. Moreover, many suites at these resorts provide ample room for a family getaway, featuring patios, living rooms, in-unit washers and dryers, and full kitchens.
How to Create a Highly Bookable Listing
Finally, our team’s data gurus are seeing consistent interest in two-bedroom suites, which make up about 70% of KOALA’s recent bookings. Our data also indicates families are looking forward to trips together in a post-COVID travel landscape, so think of resorts with amenities for the little ones — like splash pads, playgrounds, and creative workshops.
As for prices, the average booking for a one bedroom comes in at $161/night, $197 for two-bedroom suites, and $268 for three-bedrooms. We’ve also recently rolled out our suggested listing feature. Travelers looking to book will now see suggested listings that are near matches to their search, meaning your listing is more likely than ever to head to the top of travelers’ searches — especially if you’re listing at a competitive price. Better still, our Stays Page aggregates every listing on KOALA in one place, with some simple filters that make it easy for travelers to book their dream vacation.
