Uptick in 2021 Bookings Signals Light at the End of the Tunnel

For many, travel in 2021 means rescheduling cancelled trips, and reconnecting with loved ones. Families are looking forward to 2021 reunions after holidays apart. 

We’re also seeing an increase in longer trips for 2021 travel. Roughly 58% of November bookings were for 4 days or longer. That said, while short term stays declined, they remained popular, with stays of 3 days or less clocking in at 42% of total bookings. Shorter-term stays were (no surprise) concentrated around weekends, and tended to focus on high demand times and destinations (think a quick beach getaway during Spring Break). If you’re hoping to rent out your timeshare next year, offering a week-long rental at a regionally-savvy price will help your listing stand out.

The next question is, when? As of right now booking activity is concentrated around Spring or later. We’ve even started to receive bookings as late as Thanksgiving of next year, with September 2021 also proving popular. 

2021 Travel Destinations

As for the where: travelers are particularly eager to visit Florida, with nearly 60% of November bookings concentrated in the Sunshine State. When it comes to resorts, it’s no surprise that Wyndham Bonnet Creek in Orlando, FL tops the list. Beloved by many owners, Bonnet Creek’s gorgeous amenities, combined with sunny Florida vibes and proximity to Disney World, make for a highly bookable listing.

Orlando is proving popular with those traveling next fall, as Walt Disney World rings in its 50th anniversary on October 1st. We’ll be keeping you updated on Disney’s anniversary fete (as well as the stellar new rides and attractions on the way), but it’s fair to say an autumn Orlando suite will be prime digs for travelers headed to the celebration.

We are also seeing an uptick in urban bookings: resorts such as Club Wyndham Governor’s Green in Williamsburg, Virginia, and Wyndham Nashville in Tennessee, offer both city connections and relaxing retreats.

Both destinations are located just minutes from nearby museums, shopping districts, and restaurants. Back at the resort, guests can enjoy spacious, quiet accommodations away from the city bustle.
