Group Travel on the Brain
2020 proved to be one of the most challenging years in recent memory. As the New Year gets underway however, it’s clear that wanderlust is back, with December seeing a 62% (!) increase in bookings relative to November.
Moreover, travelers on KOALA are clearly looking forward to group travel after spending so much time away from loved ones. In December 2020, a whopping 86% of bookings were for resort stays with two or more bedrooms. Families are eager to gather and comfortably spread out in gorgeous multi-bedroom units with spacious living areas, in-unit washers/dryers, private balconies, and more.
When specifically are groups looking to travel? Late Spring (April-May) and Fall of 2021 were the most booked resort stays on KOALA, coming in at 36% and 22% of total bookings respectively. Our data indicates that bookings are clearly timed to coincide with a safer travel landscape. Continuing the trend, travelers are also gravitating towards flexible cancellation policies.
